What is the Variety Bash?
The Variety Bash is the largest and longest running Australian charity motoring event! The Variety Bash is often imitated, but never bettered! It’s not a race or a rally, it’s a fun and social motoring event. In the words of the original “Basher” Dick Smith, it’s ‘a drive in the outback with a few mates’.
The Variety Bash is a once in a lifetime chance to experience remote and regional parts of Australia that you might not otherwise see, all in support of kids in need.
Entrants get to visit local towns, stopping into schools and organisations to visit Variety kids.
Bashers get to see the direct impact of their fundraising efforts along the way, with a range of educational, health and mobility equipment provided to local schools and organisations en route.
WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE ON TASBASH?
Our Variety Federal Group TasBash teams travelled from Hobart, to Bruny Island, onto Southport, then up to Tarraleah during TasBash 2019. They covered over 1,300 km over 5 days, and visited 6 schools en route. Watch their adventures in this fabulous video (with huge thank you to our friends at Hype TV).
You'll get a glimpse into what TasBash is all about - but to really experience it, you gotto do it!
MEET SOME OF OUR BASHERS - BLINKY BILL
Jan and Johno's Bash..."The favourite part of TasBash for us is visiting the schools, seeing the equipment that has been granted as a result of our fundraising efforts and watching the smiles appear on the children’s faces as we arrive in our themed cars."
