100 jetskis making a community contribution

100 jetskis will take to the water on Sunday 5 February to ride 100kms around Maria Island to raise funds for local charity, Archie’s 100.

President of jetskitas, Carolyn Pillans, said “Never before have 100 or so jetskis ridden as a group in Tasmania so it will be a real spectacle on the day.

Together we can have a great day and help Archie’s 100 raise important funds for the Royal Hobart Hospital’s Paediatric ICU."

Jetskitas is calling on anyone with a few hours experience and a reasonably modern jetski (personal watercraft) of any brand, to join them on Sunday 5 February. The ride will depart from Raspins Beach, Orford, to circumnavigate the beautiful coastline and beaches of Maria Island.

All the ride and registration information is available via the button below.

Club Vice President, Craig Woolford said, “The Club is ready to support anyone who doesn’t have a lot of experience but is keen to extend what they do on their jetski. A comprehensive safety plan has been prepared which includes a fleet of motorboats accompanying the group around the Island.”

Many of the Club’s members expanded their jet-skiing after the first large group ride around Maria Island in 2013.

Archie’s 100 is a local Tasmanian charity established after a boating tragedy on the East Coast in 2021 to raise funds for the incredible work of the Royal Hobart Hospital’s paediatric and neo-natal ICU.

The event is being sponsored by a host of local businesses through donations and in kind so that all profits can be donated to the Children’s Ward.

About Archie's 100

In early 2020 we lost our amazing son Archie “Bear” at age 7, in a tragic boating accident.

Each year we celebrate Archie’s Heavenly Birthday by honouring his amazing legacy and acknowledging the wonderful emergency service workers who dedicate their lives to saving others.

  • 000 Ambulance Tasmania Service
  • Westpac Rescue Helicopter
  • The Royal Hobart Hospital NICU
  • Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

Out of this tragedy, our Archie became an organ donor and from this incredible gift, he was able to essentially give life to 5 strangers.

Through “Archie’s 100” funds raised will go towards funding the best equipment, research or patient care at the Royal Hospital Hospital’s Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

‘Archie’s 100’ is made up of many events run throughout the amazing community we live in, the major event being a family fun event, 100 minutes of exercise (run or walk), followed by children’s activities including, face painting, food vans and loads other entertainment.

We encourage you and your family to discuss and consider registering for organ donation via this link below:

Archie also received many units of blood from Red Cross Lifeblood which gave us some more TIME, because of this we are encouraging people to donate blood through the link below and request to be a part of Archie Bears Superheroes Lifeblood Team:
